Life One Mile Below the Surface of the Earth, April 26

Karen Lloyd, professor of microbiology, will present “Life One Mile Below the Surface of Earth” Friday, April 26.

Microorganisms living underneath the surface of the earth have a total carbon mass of 15 to 23 billion tons, hundreds of times more than that of humans. In her presentation, Professor Lloyd will discuss these findings from a study by the Deep Carbon Observatory. Read more about her research.

The UT Science Forum takes place Friday, April 26 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Thompson-Boling Arena Cafe (located at 1600 Phillip Fulmer Way), Room A.
