Feeding Rwanda One Chicken at a Time, Oct. 23

Rob Mihelic, a scientific representative with StemCell Technologies, will present “Feeding Rwanda One Chicken at a Time” Friday, October 23 via Zoom.

In Northern Rwanda, family income is around $1 per day and many children experience stunted growth because their diets lack protein. The Tworore Inkoko, Twunguki (TI) project increases protein consumption and household income for farmers and their families by training Rwandans to raise chickens. Mihelic will discuss how he helped increase sustainability and farmer profits about 30% by improving housing conditions for young chickens.

The UT Science Forum takes place via Zoom Friday, Oct. 23 from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is required. Once registered, you will receive a link to join the Zoom presentation.
