The Science Behind the Coronavirus Vaccines, February 3

Jeff Becker, Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus in the UT Department of Microbiology, will present “The Science Behind the Coronavirus Vaccines,” Wednesday, February 3.

In his presentation, Becker will review the coronavirus structure and its replication cycle as the basis for targeting its infection, the history of viral vaccines in general, and a comparison of the Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines. He will also discuss the potential problems and issues of coronavirus vaccines, such as the potential consequences of virus mutation.
