An Urban Waters Report Card for the State of Tennessee, Feb. 10

Join us Friday, Feb. 10 as we kick off the spring 2023 Science Forum lecture series with John Schwartz, professor in the UT Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and director of the Tennessee Water Resources Research Center, presenting “An Urban Waters Report Card for the State of Tennessee,” at noon via Zoom.

Professor Schwartz leads a statewide working group to develop an Urban Waters Report Card including the cities of Nashville, Chattanooga, and Memphis, and the counties of Hamilton, Shelby, and Knox; plus staff from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. The main goal of the Urban Waters Report Card is to provide municipal separate storm sewer systems with an assessment tool to incrementally quantify improvements and “grade” stream quality after implementation of stormwater-control measures and stream restoration projects. In his presentation, Professor Schwartz  will provide background on the project and describe the work in progress of this statewide working group.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Once registered, you will receive an email with information about joining the meeting via Zoom.

Register today for the Feb. 10 Science Forum lecture.
