Feb. 17: Will the United States Continue to Produce Sugar?

Join us Friday, Feb. 17 for Will the United States Continue to Produce Sugar?, a presentation by Karen L. DeLong, UTIA associate professor of agricultural and resource economics, at noon via Zoom.

Nothing is more basic than food.  Where is American food production going?  In her presentation, Professor DeLong will focus on sugar production, specifically its production in the United States and throughout the word. She will discuss which countries have sugar subsidies and control the world market, as well as what the US does to protect sugar farmers here to avoid complete dependence on foreign sugar. She will conclude with a discussion on what we should be doing.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Once registered, you will receive an email with information about joining the meeting via Zoom.

Register today for the Feb. 10 Science Forum lecture.
